hi all
bought myself a new 08 trd tacoma no less then a month ago and last week crushed that plastic harnass plate right off. i saw the diy relocation (which makes way more sence). just wondering if this is a wide spread problem. i don't see the logic in having a brittle peice of plastic as the low point on rear end but whatever. How many folks here have busted that bad boy off?. im looking for a little ammunition to go back to the dealership with.

Everyone breaks/bends them. Relocate it and save yourself some trouble. The dealer might care...but likely they will blame it on offroading or something.

Haha, yeah it's been a while man! I need a new bumper so I've been creepin for a little bit again. School can wait right?

Shame on us Phi, we got off topic.

Back on topic now.

^Follow the DIY thread dude. It lays it all out.
Yes, I know it lays it all out. I just haven't decided whether to go the plate light way or drill a new hole. When I'm given multiple choice it just makes it too hard.

My solution:

With the salt used in Canada, the location on the bumper has always lead to rust and corrosion in my experience. It is always a relief to get he trailer lights and electric brakes to work after a winter. So the bumper plate light DIY location is not for me. Put it in the driver's side bed storage box. You will need to make one of the slots for the door round to accommodate the bargeman harness wire. And you will have to make a male / female extension harness to get from the trailer to the truck storage box lead - my lead ends up just at the top of the tailgate. It takes a bit of time and some $$. But I will never have rust and corrosion problems again. And a cap keeps it all dry and out of harms way.
