Well about 2 weeks ago the overdrive on my 1991 SR5 started to not want to kick in (its an automatic incase you dont notice) after a couple days it would kick in and then kick off for awhile and kick back in (and it would kick off when im going 70-80 mph so the engine would be at almost 5k rpm)

today i woke up and couldnt get it out of park had to use the shift overlock thing and i have to use it everytime i move it out of park..

the tranny in it has under 100K miles on it and came from a 1994 corolla

is the tranny going out or do i just need to replace the solonoid for the overdrive?

woah.. Liter just had the lock problem yesterday too.. maybe its weather related, the cold is probably locking your shifters. I would probably say try greasing the movable parts on the shifter.

As for the OD problem.. does your transmission have an OD button? my dad's old Toyota van had that problem and it was the actual button that was dying.

Owner of Reality- I have used this product with some good results. auto-rx.com. I put about 6 oz into my tranny for 1000-1500 miles and then drain it. It shifted better, a bit, but I wasn't having your problems, just a minor seal leak. You might want to check out the webiste. Also you might want to change your tranny fluid completely and consider going to synth. Good luck.
