Does anyone have any access to a Transmission Cable that would work for Corolla FX, automatic transmission?
(I have a 1988 Corolla FX. However, sometimes the parts of my car are with a 1987 model, or even earlier models.) The cable is connecting the gear switch right next to the driver's seat inside the car (then going under/outside the car to the front) to the transmission. (It's not a detention cable that you would see on the top.) The Toyota dealership has been discontinued the part, and those parts stores (O’Reilly, Advance, Auto Zone, NAPA) don't carry it, either. I was told that the only place that I could find it would be the junk yards. However, cars like this rarely exist in this area, which is on the border between the United States and Mexico. Can anyone help?

if you can find a 85 chevy nova looks like they use the same cable.

it looks very similar to the later year cable. i wonder if you could use one of them and see if it would work.

this pic is from a 88 corolla 4 door sedan with 3 speed auto

looks like the main difference is the extra things on the actual cable(looks like grommets or seals). i'm sure that would be your best bet as a replacement. hopefully it's not too expensive from a junkyard and it will fit.

well it looks like you're either gonna have to keep looking and wishing, or make something happen. i'd recommend trying to get one from the regular sedan or wagon from your local junk yard and see if you can make it work. i mean how much will they charge you for it? $10? the main difference if you look at the pics i posted is the seal to the firewall. looks like they both clip in the same at the shifter, and both bolt in to the trans. sure they route differently to the arm which looks different, but overall it looks like it should work. good luck with that.
