I just purchased a 06 high lander hybrid. And sometimes it won't go into gear when leaving the parking lot. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to let it warm up longer? It has 225k on it and been serviced on time. I don't know anything about the hybrid models. Thanks

What do you mean by "won't go into gear"? Shifter does not shift? Does not come out of P? Those cars don't have any "gears".
We had several owners having issues with very hard gear shifter operation. Some cable rusts and causes that.
Please, clarify

The button on the gear shift will not compress and let me get out of park. After several minutes of sitting in a spot it will finally let me push the button and engage the gear. It's fine after that until the next time you park it.

Hmmm... I'd start with spraying electronic cleaner in there, where button is. Then, going with some clear lubricant spray, like silicone. With a straw, of course.
There's nothing to warm up, it's simple mechanical latch.

Also, take shifter bezel off, and lubricate everything down there.
