Ok I now have all of the tools needed to tune my truck. The BR-CAN tool for the closed loop and the LM-1 for the open loop. Now I have been working with the closed loop and know how that works. What I need to know from the tuners is when tuning the open loop portion of the map once you know your in open loop mode do you steadily drop the AFR from 14.7 (closed) to 12.5 (WOT) or do you immediately drop the AFR close to the 12.5 and try and keep it there. I have read the U-Tune book like a dozen times. I've been reading it even before I had my URD intake or MAF Calibrator. I just want to make sure that I'm tuning it correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First off before you tune, what does you AFR drop to in OPEN loop? That is where you need to start. You will/may find that you will need to adjust the AFR up to around 12-12.5 instead of down.

You will want to keep it around 12-12.5 in OPEN loop. Be aware that OPEN loop can/will occur at times other than WOT. I suggest that you drive with your scan tool connected for a week or two and notice when your truck switches ECU modes.

You can also look at others maps at http://www.freewebs.com/mafmaps

I thought the maf calibrator only adjusted the wot/open loop?/?

That's correct. Just be aware that OPEN loop can occur at other engine loads other than WOT.

The MAF cali can correct the MAF signal in closed loop when you have added an air intake that does not have the same tube size (at the MAF sensor) as the stock intake or has positioned the MAF sensor closer or further from the throttle body.

Well it has been quite sometime since I originally posted this thread. I have been working on maps and what not for a while. I just installed a DT pipe bomb y-pipe and have started tuning again for it. Do you guys notice that when in closed loop mode that your wideband will never stay on 14.7. Mine is usually on 14.2 -14.6 and sometimes it even hits 13.9. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I have this right. When my truck goes into open loop I need to try and have the afr around 12.0-12.5. It usually goes there at mid throttle to wide open. I know that other factors will cause the truck to go into open loop even at low rpms. I just need to know when to make sure that I'm getting enough fuel when accelerating. Any info will be great.
