Hello

I have some questions not the obvious of “HoW tO tUrBo mY StOcK 7MgE”

1989 Toyota Cressida - power goal is 300 WHP

so I recently went on a long drive to Kansas 5 hours 1 way and for $200 got the following parts
Hood Car Motor vehicle Vehicle Automotive design

-7MGTE Block (Crank and Pistons)
-4 ECUs (3 with grey plug connectors and 1 with yellow connectors)
-CT26
  • Turbo Manifold
  • Wastegate
  • full intake
  • also supra seats

So as far as I know I believe I need the following
  • Coil pack
  • AFM (forgot the part name but is the sensor piece before the air intake)
  • intake Cam (gonna try my luck with HKS 264 Stage 2 Cams)
I know I’m missing some parts so please light me up below

now I’ve currently got a 160k mile 7MGE stock Cressida with ARP head bolts and another unused 7MGE and Auto trans with 60k miles

so I was thinking of rebuilding the stock GTE bottom end and using the 60k mile head with ARPs and turbo specific cams (HKS cams above) because i think it’s gonna be hard to find a single intake cam

then using stiffer valve springs etc

ive also never built a turbo engine before but I’ve got some help so not going in blind

If you want the head gasket to last and you’ll be using a MLS head gasket, you will need to resurface the head and also the block, and the front inner timing cover MUST be attached to the block for surfacing.

Alright I’ll look into a gasket and no problem on the machine work the pistons need rebuilt rings etc and the block I’m gonna have work done on it as well

Since you're after 300 whp definitely go metal head gasket. the stock one together with head studs is fine for a bit above stock power for anyone else in the future that sees this thread. From what I remember the supra seats won't bolt right into the cressida mounts so you'll need to fab up adapter brackets or something. I believe serialnine or xcessive or one of those kinds of aftermarket shops has adapters/brackets for fitting the supra seats into the mx83.
