Understanding and building an audio system for your tacoma around the most important

part - your ears.

Well guys, we have a number of videos on youtube to help you guys pick and install speakers, tweeters . . subs and understand some of the nuances in the car audio world.

But after working with another TNer yesterday, I realized something. I have never explained why a lot of systems fall short of peoples expectations. I also wanted to explain why we build the systems the way we reccomend.

These videos are not just HOW to install, but to understand why we reccomend the installation routines we provide in our instructions.

So I am going to start a video series on understanding and building systems for your toyota.

Input would be great! This is for anyone thinking about upgrading their system.

Part 1 - Understanding the audible frequency range:
Part 2 - More on audible frequency and making an early audio decision.
Part 3 - How to choose a head unit for your taco
Part 5 - How to choose speakers for a basic upgrade
Part 4 - How to choose speakers for a sound system
Part 6 - How to choose an amp(s)
Part 7 - How to choose a subwoofer.
Part 8 - How to wire speakers, amps subs etc.
Part 9 - INstallation tips
Part 10 - Understanding power requirements.
More parts to come

Please let me know how to improve this first rough draft. BTW, you can watch in HD.

I like this. I think you've done a good job explaining why discrete speakers will offer better audio quality.

I did notice one thing: at approx 4:17 you say 18,000Khz instead of 18Khz.

Good luck with this :)

lol! I know, I was listenting to it and noticed a lot of errors! I thought I could shoot from the hip. I am going to re-do into two parts.
But thanks!
If you could just do a basic break down of sub impedances, for most people this would help big time. (single vs. dual voice coil) and ohm ratings on both (1, 2, and 4) Nothing too detailed, but just a quick basic understanding.

Also, Include some realistic things, like, with behind back seat boxes (double cabs) about bass level expectations (SPL vs. SQ)

Over all, I love the idea, and keep up the great work. From what i've seen you've helped tons of people on here.
Good vid, just some nice basic info that everyone should know!

on a side note, does anyone make a 6x9 midrange for a component system?
Also tell people about the importance with sound deadning the doors. The plastic in these trucks is a rattle/buzz nest. No amp ,No sub , Upgraded speakers, and the rear access doors buzz and rattle to the point where I cant enjoy my music on bass filled tunes. I will be removing the panels soon and trying to control the noise.
Very informative....Thanks Rob

..

I revised them and put them in two parts.

I think I fixed most of my errors . . .

Thanks for the great feedback!
Thanks for the info!
