Own a 01 Camry 4 cyl with 150,000 on it. I need to change the valve cover gasket. Oil is leaking from the back opposite the firewall and leaving spots on the driveway. My question is how difficult a job is it? I've never done it before. Anything I need to be informed of before I tackle the job? Thanks in advance.

Can you recommend where to get the parts?

And what parts do I need? I was told by the shop to replace it too. There is oil leak at the back of the engine (need to look from below) but no dipping.

I've used Fel-Pro. I don't think I've heard of a brand to avoid. They're not expensive, like $30, so I'd stay away from any "off" brand. Be sure to get a kit that includes the spark plug tube seals.

I just did this and it was very easy. Only thing that took time was cleaning all the surfaces off. All you need is the Felpro gasket kit. It's funny, the one with the tube seals is the same price as the one without so definitely get the one with the tube seals. Here is what I got.

Also pickup some Permatex Red RTV like this:

Some others have mentioned to replace the semi-circular plugs and a distributor plug, but I'm not familiar with these and didn't do it on mine. Hope I didn't miss something big.
