I drive a 2000 Avalon (2nd gen). 176k miles on it, and I want to inspect it myself, but I don't know where to start.

I know a couple of obvious things like brake pads and icky oil, but what I would really need is a list. D:

Unless, of course, someone tells me that a complete inspection is highly inexpensive.

But still, the learning experience would be nice.

There are basic things you can check yourself. Stuff like the ball joints, tie rods, tranny fluid, p/s fluid, brake fluid, etc. Do you keep up the regular maintenance schedule on the car?

Honestly, the only thing I have paid attention to was the oil and brake fluid. I've just started getting into caring for/maintaining my Avalon. Before it blows up on me. =3
