The passenger side is terrible though, and the Rav4 is worse. They should have lowered the non-power seat by an inch.
Totally disagree - the non-powered passenger seat could do with being higher if anything! I'm 5'11" and find it appropriate, but my g/f is 5' 0" and has to use a cushion on the passenger seat, otherwise she gets disoriented because she can't see the road.
I’m only 5ft 4” and I like my seat all the way down lol, I can’t imagine being an extra 8” taller and dealing with it. I can see just fine but I also am used to seeing less of the ground because I had a 2016 Limited AWD 4Runner and I have a 2006 Tundra DC SR5 that one sees more of the hood compared to CUVs and sedans (I’ve owned Corollas and Camrys as well).
I'm 5'11" and have my driver's seat all the way up! I like being high up for some reason. I wish the seat went slightly higher (I have the XLE with seat package). So they can't suit everyone!

And I wish mine could fly.....but, it can't which I found out playing with all trims on test drives before laying the bucks down.

Traded a '20 Rav4 xse for the Venza xle with Limited seats and Nav radio and although less trunk space it is what it was designed to be.....a luxury version of the Rav4 built on the same TNGA platform and identical drive train. And like the Rav4 it is perfect for what it was intended.....a grocery grabber, all around town scooter.

At 5'10" with a bad back and arthritis had to adapt technique of tilt head-in entry for access, but still a pleasure when compared to getting my a$$ into a '15 Camaro. Only two of us but have to go for three row Highlander for the room, conveniences, ride and ease of entry. Don't need 3 rows and haven't raised the third row since I bought it which will stay down until trade in time, but like the Rav/Venza plenty of test rides and kicking tires determined it's suitability of the former attributes and comfort during long drives before purchase. So no complaints here on either.

Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but as far as comparison with other sows ears on the market, the Venza is the leader.
Thanks for sharing some good insight and perspective!

My daughter’s’22 Highlander Platinum Hybrid has wonderfully adjustable seats. I wish our ‘21 Venza had that level of adjustment. I do think the Venza’s seats are more comfortable.

Ease of entry is a big thing as you hit my age and limited movement. The 2023 Venza limited is better on the passenger side, but no where as easy as the Highlander.

that is a plus

I just wanted to say, after almost 2 years with my 2021 Venza, I really appreciate the location of the 'start' button now! I didn't like it at first as I was used to it being closer to the steering wheel but now, I find that I can hit 'off' with my thumb immediately after moving the shift-lever to 'park'! It does block access to the cubby hole, but - I don't really use it anyway.

The 'capacitive touch' buttons continue to be my biggest gripe - always a struggle to get them to activate with a single touch.

  • The drivers side wiper leaves a large uncleared gap at the A pillar. If it snows a lot that uncleared section along with the A pillar leaves a large blind spot.
  • I don't like the feel of the steering wheel 'leather' on our base model, if makes me want to wear gloves.
  • When starting the vehicle, the ICE engine doesn't always start at the press of the start button, so when moving the gear selector from Park to Drive or Revers and the engine starts during the gear selector movement there is a noticeable jolt in the drivetrain.
  • The rear turn signals get quite dirty during the winter season, not sure about the visibility of them during the day as they are covered in salt.
  • Needs more power, the 'sport' mode doesn't really cut it. For whatever reason I thought during the test drive it was fine, but now... meh.
  • Brake modulation is poor, not a smooth transition when applying the brakes.

My biggest complaint is that it seems to be a jinxed car. I got it new in July 2021, and it's going in this week for its third trip to the body shop. All three times are not my fault . The left rear corner was vandalized in a parking lot, that same place got scraped up by a camper that didn't know how to drive in a parking lot, and now the front right is all smashed in because a neighbor backed out of her driveway right in front of me. I just got it back from the body shop for the camper scrape last November and now here I go again. And she acted angry at me like it was my fault I hit her. The officer set her straight on that. I'm just hoping three times is a charm and no more body shop hassles for me. . . . . 😐 Icing on the cake, her insurance company has her VIN and the plate number on file, but they can't find an active policy. 🙄 I'm going ahead with $500 deductible and my insurance and hopefully her to come through and pay everything but I gotta get things fixed and I don't wanna waste time.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with with accidents. My wife's Camry was totaled by a car driven by an unlicensed driver. Lucky that owner of the car had insurance, it just sucked that our car was considered totaled based on the cost of repair vs age of the car.

Totaled. My 19 year old daughter totaled her 99,998.9 mile 89 Celica when it was 4 years old. We bought it from the insurance company (USAA) and completely restored it. Exactly a year later at 115,xxx miles, it was totaled again (not her fault) and we bought it again. She sold it at. 156,xxx miles. Still good.

I posted this as sometimes a dated vehicle, totaled, is worth fixing and keeping.

I’m sorry to hear about your Venza misfortunes, I can relate to one of your “hits”, I had 1,500 miles on my ‘21, when my next door neighbor, an old fart that has dubious visual acuity, backed out of his driveway in a 2011 RAV4 right into my drivers door. His insurance was a PITA to deal with and the only Toyota authorized Autobody shop in my area, was going to touch my car, not what his crap insurance was attempting to dictate to me. It took some serious vehement telephone conversation that I was adamant about how the repairs were to be done, no rework, Bondo BS, just a R & R with a New door and lower plastic trim and the Ruby flare pearl paint applied by a Autobody shop that does high end show car painting. They did not disappoint either. The shipment of the first replacement door was received by the body shop damaged and sourcing another was a problem during the plandemic as none was immediately showing up on the computer. Two weeks later I was called that a new door was located and did arrive intact, six days later my Venza was like new again, and detailed like it rolled off the assembly line.
Not a speck of dust anywhere to be found.
When the 3rd year is up, if I decide to keep it, I’ll be bringing it back to have them touch up those stone chips all over the vehicle from the sh*tty roads before they repaved. The asphalt grinding/removal machines and subsequent vacuuming don’t pick up everything so the net result during morning rush, I’m hearing the rocks banging all over the car, top to bottom. It was a $#!T show, only in NY ! 🤬
It’s really sad how bad our local government is, allowing the infrastructure to degrade to such a dismal degree, pothole city, looong fissures on the hwy and patches on patches for the entire frigging road. OMG.
If I could only sue the state for their corrupt negligence in how our tax monies were “spent” ahem, cough, cough- likely pocketed by unelected officials at the DOT. 😣

The only problem in Pa. is CarFax, your car takes a big hit in value after the repair. Your fault or their fault, you loose there is no way to get the difference back.
CarFax is easily bypassed, if the leased or bought vehicle is involved in some type of accident where it’s not reported to anyone but repaired privately, where’s the CarFax being generated from ? It’s not !!
I bought a used Hyundai Sonata, loaded w/30K miles from a well known dealer and they fraudulently claimed a “clean” report, but later on I started to notice a dark shadow in the pearl white paint bleeding thru.
I noticed overspray, and clear coat buildup along a door molding that had sharp edges catching my detail cloth. That was my bad buying a car after sunset, being desperate to source an affordable one, believing this salesman/dealer was honest. Now I truly understand First hand why used car salesmen/dealers have this reputation for being untrustworthy.

That’s a lot of labor, $$$, time and materials to invest into any car. At what point does it become feasible to just write it off ?
If the car has sentimental value, is considered a collectible or vintage, maybe then ?
Wouldn’t It better to find another used ‘89 Celica and just keep the “totaled” as a spare parts donor ? Maybe storage is another concern ?
Restoring an accident free car isn’t easy w/o a backup daily driver, I know, I tried. Murphy’s Law reared its ugly head in my case.
The best laid plans…. 😟

Here, anything that reaches 3000.00 is turned into CarFax by the insurance company....

Actually, the insurance buy-back plus the labor/parts was quite a bit less than the end value. The car had been meticulously maintained (by me). Plus, we liked the color, etc. Last year before the model change, white/blue interior, stick/manual and preferred the ST over the GT. No salt nor rust here in Arkansas back then.

Both of my girls had manuals for their 1st and 2nd cars, both had to do some servicing of their cars (oil and airfilters) and had to demonstrate that they could change a flat tire before driving.
