Just filled the big gap between the headlight and the hood with a strip of LED lights, here are the result.

I like it, it's very interesting.

How did you wire it? To be on all the time?

Please post your DIY w/pics if you can.

Very interesting look :)

That reminds me of the Audio look :)... every interesting, I like it. Can you show us where you got the part, how you power it up (on/off switch or hot wire to the night light), and how you mount it (screw or 3M tape mount)?

sorry guys, don't have pictures for DIY, but it only took me 20 minutes to do . The LEds i got it from ebay, $3.95 for 2 strips including shipping. I tabbed the wires to the DRL/ Highbeam Wires using some splice connectors. The LEDs are mounted on top of the headlight with double sided 3M tape. It's a very easy and cheap DIY project.

I am still trying to figure out a better way to tab the LED to, so they could be on when ever I start the engine.

Instead of tapping into the "high" beam, you can tap into the low beam headlight since lowbeam can be put in auto mode and your LED strips kook much better at dark anyway :).

Why don't they com eon if you spliced to the DRLs?

I do a quick search on the LED strips and I found some except that it is about $25.00 (not that I mind the $25.00 but why pay almost 8x more :)). I have hood deflector installed so I will have to check the gap to see if I got the space for it:rolleyes:.

I've got the Stock HID for the low beam, so i don't want to mess around with the wires.
I do agree that the LEd look much better at night time, so i am thinking of tabbing it to the turn signal lights, that those will be on when the low beam's on. Except on the turn signal, there will be 3 wires instead of 2 for the DRL, (the extra one for the blink i assume) and the connector is much harder to reach than the DRL too.

I think you can access the parking light at the corner of the headlight housing relatively easy. That light has two wires and it auto on/off with the headlight. I can pull the wire out enough to just open up the wire tube and expose the wire to tapped into it if I were to do it. I tempted to do it but I 'll wait for a cooler weather... at 105 degree outside I am sweating like a pig in just under three minutes - whew it is HOT out here today.

Can't seem to easily remove and plug side light

Hi,
I installed a SMD LED strip today in my Venza. I tapped into the side marker light (which is the amber lamp in the upper corner of the headlight assembly) and boy I have a hard time take out the bulb to gain access to the wire. I too it off and now having a hard time twisting it back into the socket :headbang:

Anyone got an idea of how to get the light back in because I tried and tried but unable to twist it 100% back in its place and I have a small hand too. The engineer that designs the space probaby never stick his hand in there to undo the bulb.

Just a guess but it may be a spring load - if so you need to push the bulb in then twist. When you release it would lock in.

The socket is not spring loaded. It is the space that is being too tight and not enough space for the grip and twist. I was able to get it in into the socket and twisted it just enough for it to stay but I know it is not 100% seated into the socket as it supposed to.
