Depends a lot on how professional you want it to look and how old the car is.

When you sand them down you're making it easier for the paint to stick and look natural, but you're also removing any caked on road debris.

Personally I would lightly sand it regardless, as I've seen these tiny jobs gone terribly wrong because someone didn't take 10 minutes to go the extra mile.

what about klasse sealant glaze instead of clear???

i have a bottle of klasse sealant glaze, can i sub that for the clear? will it seal in the nite shade so it dont fade just as well? please dont tell me i have to do both! but if i do have to, go ahead and tell me?

clear coat isn't needed but nightshades does like to fade over time and the clear helps to slow that down.
