The most common cause of this is a bad wheel speed sensor. I believe the code will point to the wheel.

Trust me, that has nothing to do with your VSC.

Since VSC is tied very closely to ABS, unless your reader can pull ABS codes you need to have them pulled by someone who's got one that can.

I'd also clear that code afterward, as if it were active you should be getting a check engine light, and nothing you've said indicates you are. It's a stored code from an old fault.

Well, then you need to pursue that P0037, but it is utterly disjoint from your VSC issue.

The VSC and engine CEL’s came on in our then 07 Lexus ES350 and the code was a bad ignition coil. Four years later, they came on again due to another coil gone bad. Dont know why VSC would be deactivated for a bad coil, but it did, and returned to normal each time the coil was replaced.

Nor do I, but while many things are too strange to be believed, none are too strange to be true.

I've seen some really weird things (e.g., a car be thrown into transmission limp home mode because of a weak battery that was still strong enough to start the car) occur.

All modern cars involve multiplexed computers in the form of the various ECUs and certain peculiar and unexpected domino effects can occasionally occur.

In any case, it makes sense to address the issue for a code that's been thrown first, then see if that has a ripple effect in fixing other things that it "shouldn't" fix.

Both lights will come on when a oil change is due 5k.
The VSC light does NOT come on for the regular oil change indication. It only shows a malfunction in Vehicle Stability Control. The check engine light doesn't, either.

There is a separate Maintenance Needed light that does. First blinking as you approach the limit, then solid after it's met. This is all documented in the owner's manuals, and it doesn't seem to have changed between 2004 and 2011 (which is the last year for which I've downloaded a copy of the Owner's Manual).

We have a 2007 Camry V6. The VSC light and check engine light were on. Codes indicated bad O2 sensors.

We replaced the 6 spark plugs and ignition coils and that fixed it. Turns out we probably didn't have to change the ignition coils but the mechanic I was using at the time didn't know better.
