I had a shop replace the timing belt/water pump/seals, front brakes, and tranny fluid. 2 days later, every 10 minutes or so my ABS light comes on, the power to the radio is cut off, and sometimes the doors lock and unlock. This lasts for about 5 seconds, then goes away. The brakes are still fine, although one time the engine made a strange noise, lost power for a few seconds, and the check engine light came on. The shop looked for 3 days and couldn't find any problems. I don't think it's really safe to drive around :). Any ideas, or is my best bet to take my chances at a dealership? I have a '97 4 cyl Camry.

I had a similar problem when my alternator started going out. However it seemed to happen when I would let up off the gas and step on the brake. The radio would also cut out with a pop.

So you might check your alternator and the grounding of your engine/alternator.

One of the things that was done during its diagnostic was a thorough cleaning of the alternator, and it still happens. Would alternator spikes be solved by a cleaning, or would it need replacement?
