One of them came in severely scratched on the outside of the upper mount. That is why I always order my crap for my car before I get them, because it never fails that something is going to go wrong. Oh well maybe if I am lucky I can still get them in before my truck arrives. I got them through wheelers and I know they are a stand up company. I think it was UPS's fault because my package looked kinda tired when it arrived.

That sucks. I wouldn't send one back for a scratch, but at the same time I respect others' decision to do so, so I can understand your frustration. Hope it works out for you - I've heard good things about those guys, so I think they'll take care of it for you :chug:

You're just gonna go ahead and get this truck like you want it before you even own it, huh? That's cool shit, man. Just be careful - if you throw all these mods at it right out of the gate, you may get bored with it later because you don't have anything else you want to do to it. I've fallen into that trap before (not before I took delivery, but within the first 6 months.) Looks like you're gonna have a really cool truck from day one, though

I know it sucks that it was scratched, but why not try to get a discount instead?

I mean if they are coilovers, they are hardly going to be in plain site, well some of it, but would the scratch even be noticable? If you could live with the scratch and save $50 bucks it would be even better.

But to each his own.

A scratch?????

My truck is sitting in my driveway, literally covered in mud, from the drive my wife and I took to look at a potential site for our new home today. I'll bet there's at least on scratch under the truck from something.

Like Sarkar said... ask for a partial refund for it. Sending back a scratched coilover would just be silly.

Could you turn the scratch to the inside (toward the engine) so it can't be seen? I know you want to get what you pay for, but in all reality, if it is "just a scratch," then only you and your mechanic will ever see it. And if it is nothing more than superficial, it shouldn't affect the operation of the coilover. If the scratch is at the top (the black part) couldn't you just touch it up with a little bit of black touch-up paint? But hey, in the end it's your stuff and if you aren't happy with it (and never will be knowing it's scratched), then definitely send it back.

I'd call up wheelers and see what they say. They must have really thrown around your box because Donahoe packs up their coil overs really well. If the scratch is not on the DR logo, I'd just use some black touch up paint to cover it up. Hope everything works out. :)

Yeah the scratch is at the top, since they are black it is really noticable. I can not put it on the inside because the coilovers are directional. I don't plan on beating my truck so scratches will be very rare. I would rather have a non scratched coilover than 50 bucks, hell I would rather have a non scratched coilover than 250 bucks.

Actually the packing was awful. They came loose in a box which separated them with foam on the top and bottom, not on the sides. Very little protection. I would not care if it was on the inside, but I am spending several thousand fixing it up, I don't want it to be tarnished from the get go.
