Shovel, Shovel, Shovel!!! I usually don't bring the snow blower out unless there's more than 6 inches and/or it's very wet...I don't think I'd wait until there was 27 inches though...taller than the snowblower. Once you blow it off the driveway, then you gotta drive on it to pack it down...that's what I do.

I got stuck in just 6 inches with the Dunlops...served me right!

Now I plow thru a foot or more easily.

God I wish I had pics.
I was driving back to Oregon in January. I got stuck in Rawlins, Wyoming for 2 days because they shut all the roads down when the weather turns. So when they open the roads I hit it, flip on the 4x4 and try to make up the lost 48 hours:thumbdown
Flying up a hill and see a patch of glossy smoth ice on the crest, let off the gas as I go into it, got back on just a sec to soon and loose the rear. End up on the side of the road in at least 3 feet of snow:eek:
Problem was my tires were not on the ground so they just spun on the snow. I called a tow truck and they quoted me $200 and a 3 hour wait. Then 10 min later a couple ranchers stop, find out im in the army and proceed to pull me out braking 1 chain and 2 ropes, and they wouldnt take any $. Good guys..

No pics, but I got high centered on an ATV trail once, and buried to the frame in snow twice.

ATV trail needed help from a buddy's jeep to get out of, but the rest of the stuff I worked my way out of before choosing a different route.

First time in the snow it didn't look very deep, but apparently the wind had swept it smooth so it was a foot deeper than I thought. A little bit of action between 4LO + locker got it to move a little, and then 4HI with more gas finally dug it out.

Second time the road changed from snow covered dirt to dirt covered snow before I realized, and we sank down about 6". Using 4HI, 4Lo and locker just dug it deeper until snow was packed around the frame. Finally I just grabbed my Hi-Lift, put in under the hitch, and moved the ass end over 6ft to solid ground. After that it backed right out! :D
