Much needed car wash today.

Two weeks ago, I replaced both of my fender liners (comparison below) because they had holes in them and were missing clips and were ragged out. This past weekend I ordered an OEM splash guard from Anthony in Newnan Georgia who gave me a discount, along with the clips. I also fixed the headlight problem I had and a rear speaker. I also cleaned my cup holders and middle console completely. Then, Tuesday I got the splash cover (my old one must have fallen off 100,000 miles ago?) and installed it and everything was perfect. Now I've got all my splash guards on so rain doesn't splash on my belt and cause my car to die. I also need another clip that fell out of the right splash guard. Not really much left to do on my car. I need a new bumper cover and a middle console and that'll be it.

The OEM Corolla clips are crap. You need the Camry clips. They are much better quality and stronger.

I keep a box at all times. You never know who will need them and I am currently on my 3rd box with all the cars I service.

Will the Camry clips fit my OE corolla holes? When I ordered the liners- I got them from a third party, both the push ones and the square ones (not sure of the technical name. Grommet maybe?). But with the splash shield, since I went OE since my driver one was still OE, I went ahead and ordered the OE clips as well. Do you think the third party clips would be better than the OE ones? If so, I'll order more of those. I think for a box of fifteen of each kind it was 5.00$, 9.00$ shipped.

Any 7mm clip will "fit". The Corolla/Matrix/Vibe OEM clips are just especially brittle and break off by themselves. The Camry/Solara/Avalon clips I linked are much better quality out if the box.

Installing the OEM Corolla clips is prolonging the inevitable. There is a chance that you got better clips from that dealer. What part number were the clips you ordered?

Oil change and inspection. I moved over to that new Natural Gas Pennzoil Platinum 5W30.

Seems to sound the same as with Mobil 1 0W30.

My car officially uses no oil between changes with 125K.

Installed my Optitron Cluster. IT IS SO MUCH BETTER LOOKING!!!!

Got my LE rheostat and installed it. Now my cluster works as designed.

I got the entire assembly with rheostat, mirror switch, and security LED for $25 shipped.

Now I can sell the old assembly as well since the surround was the wrong color anyway.

I've been looking for an LE Optitron cluster, but it's hard to find one with similar mileage. My intent is to find one with slightly higher miles and wait til my old cluster reaches that amount, so everything can remain accurate. I'm at 147,000 now though and all the ones on ebay are way too low.

That's what I did. Found one with 126 when I had around 120. Took around 4-5 months to hit the mileage.

Keep searching. If you can't see the cluster itself but can see a pic of the wrecked car, just look for an LE with similar mileage.

LE are identified easiest by body color side mouldings and mirrors but have no body kit like the S.

Late update but I installed a dash cam a few days ago (G1WH to be exact).

Initially I had it on the windshield and had the cable running next to the shifter and into the power outlet next to the center storage bins. It was terrible looking and the cable was in the way.

Today I routed the wire through the headliner, down the A pillar, behind the glove box, under the center console/shifter, out the opening in front of the parking brake, and into the center console storage compartment power outlet. It is a million times cleaner now.

BTW dash cams are totally worth it.

I know this might sound dumb, but does it only come on in reverse? My grandparents had one on their rendezvous but it stayed on all the time. I thought it was pretty cool having it on while driving down the road.

No it isn't a back up camera or reverse camera which use special screen or mirror displays to output video from a rear mounted camera.

This is a continuous video recorder. Similar in concept to a police dash cam. It records as soon as I turn the key on and shuts off when I turn the key off. To be a true dash cam, the camera must be able to continuously record by deleting the oldest media when the card fills up. I have my loop set to 10 minutes so it records 10 minute increments at a time until it's full then deletes the oldest file. Total recording is probably around 5 1/2 hours at 1080P (32GB card).

Florida is insurance fraud heaven. I've been lucky but I'm not taking a chance. Also it's good to record any incidents that may arise unrelated to insurance fraud.

Plus at $72 total investment for such an awesome piece of hardware (including 32gb SD card and 3 year warranty) it's worth it just for the cool factor.

Hit 225K miles this week. Was passed down by my mom who drove it state to state all the time. Runs great. Bought new headlights and coilovers. Will post soon.
