nephew was able to successfully wrench this fuel tube apart that was brought back from Texas yard
it was a definite struggle to get off...
this what rust in threads looks like in Texas panhandle to Dallas area
or is it some sortof loctite threadlocker substance applied at time of assembly?
there were metal shavings all inside of the other tube this finally came out of

Very likely one of the metric sizes. You don't want to force it if you are not sure of the size. You can use a thread gauge on the male threaded part to find the thread pitch.

Any idea if this is a corrosion issue caused by two dissimilar metals?
I've read somewhere that is a thing

Probably not galvanic corrosion. That requires dissimilar metals and an electrolyte. Maybe just good old fashioned corrosion from moisture.

it was actually the black 1/2 that fit well, at least for the end that goes into the fuel pump bracket side
the other side none of those tools fit for some reason, too small or too big

undid 3 fuel tankstrap bolts to get the one side down far enough to get at the L-shaped bracket on the lip, the small bolt is rusted bad on that one and 10mm gets no traction onit

this is what the rear tankstrap bolt looked like, the one that bolts into the open cavity, it came out ok after the initial tightness was wrenched with the pipebreaker bar over 1/2" ratchet VERY SLOWLY

salvaged a near-like-new strap at the Texas salvage lot, did not have enough time to undo the other one there, may have to roadtrip back there next year and grab it!

the orignial strap was not in TERRIBLE shape but there was definite decay with crusted metal chunks falling out from under the tank band seat that goes over the metal

I've been thinking about adding some Tom's bits to my car, so I started ordering stuff.

A Tom's Strada steering wheel, which should arrive next week

Some extra horn buttons because the stock one isn't quite to my liking, not sure which one I'll be using though, these arrived last week.

And a set of Tom's Spirit C3R in 15x7" ET35, they should arrive in a few months and definitely need some TLC lol. I think just sanding and polishing the lip should do the trick.

with any crappy luck the whole fuel tank will need to be taken out at a future date to replace evap tube and tank itself
and this whole process will rinse and repeat

It’s been awhile but I recently got my Amayama order in the mail with a bunch of miscellaneous and maintenance parts that are hard to come by for a Blacktop in the US. Hopefully this would come in handy to anyone that goes this route in the future plus it’ll be save you TONS of money if you search by part number and none of those bs “kits” online with ridiculous JDM markup

Top row is Blacktop engine parts and bottom row is just random stuff you can’t find at the junkyard in reasonable shape. Plus a bonus OEM portable wheel stopper😎

i wish that Amayama would've had the fuel tube the car needs to get buttoned up in the back, they canceled my order, not available
its still stuck in the driveway(n) it seems that Texas tube i picked up had water damage that welded the inner threads and stripped it out too much while taking off to screw the new fuel tube in properly :(
maybe i have better luck outside of Sacramento at the big YotaYard i recently heard about

Grabbed some Russian eBay customs and installed. Still playing with the fitment but happy with the overall look. 2 Side questions: is the speedo digital or a cable on these? The previous owner gave me a cable but I was reading that it's digital. Pulled the cluster and def no cable. Am I tripping? How do I fix the inop speedo?
