what do you do to keep the plastic trim looking nice?

There is no right or wrong answer to this... My plastic molding around my van is pretty faded and sun worn and "washed" out. I have been thinking of ways to "renew" it and was wondering what you guys do. There is the gel that I can get from the auto section, but that says it only lasts for 6 monthes. Bumper paint, but I am not sure I want to go that route.... The guy that I purchased Frankenyota from actually took a Torch to his bumpers and "re-glossed" them.... definatly dont want to put him through that again....

Ideas ????????

Paint it the same color as the rest of the car.
i painted them with some kind of black bumper paint designed for the plastic trim. its also glossy. i picked it up @ autozone. it worked well. i think it was duplicolor branded.
I saw that you can use a heat gun to melt it alittle to turn it back to the original color. Check it out on Youtube.

I'm gonna borrow a heat gun when i get a chance and try it out.
