just use any off the shelf engine cleaner....it'll clean away the grease and everything, and then afterwards, wipe everything that's plastic/vinyl with armorall protectant to give it a nice lasting shine :thumbup:

built engine or in parts? They all got it right for a built engine. Spirits (parts cleaner) is what we use in the shop before putting an engine back together.

been discussed before but just for you I'll be nice:D

if is parts off the engine -> diesel fuel
on car -> oven cleaner...same as engine degreaser just different lable and cheaper...use in well ventilated area

I forgot what the actual product was, but I bought it from Canadian tire for less that 8 bucks. Here's the result (BTW, its a 99 Civic Hatch DX):

I cover up the distributor and alternator.

Place a plastic bag over it and use a rubber band to keep it on.
