Yakima or thule may make q towers that attach to the rack that you have. I am not sure if they make them or not but its something to look into. I just went ahead with aftermarket yakimas on mine. I Decided not to go with the toyota version.

Why did you decide to go with Yakima and not Toyota. So q towers are what I am looking for then? Is there a specific kind for this rack? I wish I knew what kind of rack I had.

at the front of the passengers side and rear of the drivers side there are a tab that you pull up on the roof rack. pull the tabs up, and it releases the cross members, the cross members then cross over to the opposing sides hole and clip back down.

PLEASE click the link below to see pictures. i cant believe you guys didn't know the roof rack folded out.

Yea i know it folds out hehe, but you cannot adjust the space between the cross members right? Thule and Yakima sites are not clear on installing a cargo box to the rack. All i know is that if there is at least 23" between the members, you can put a thule box on, but they want you to by extra bars

Yakima usually requires a minimum of 30" between each bar. You'd have to find some sort of adapter that mounts the bar to the factory roof rack if Thule suggests a shorter distance. I don't see a problem if you get the right mounting hardware for the box. You can try Rack Attack for advice. 888-399-RACK or rackattack.com

Just curious, how sturdy are the cross bars when they are folded out on the factory rack? I want to get the system for my truck, just don't want a flimsy set-up. I like Yakima products, but $$$$.

The OEM rack is rated for 100# thou I have put over 200# on it, I wouldn't want more weight up there.
