As asked by the title, "What size are the front axle nuts of an AE92 GT-S?"

Gonna switch the clutch sometime this week and i'd rather have all the tools at one rather than having to drive back and forth b/w the house and the shop.

TIA,
Gino

It is a 30 MM axle Nut. You will need a 30 MM axle Nut socket. They cost like I think $12.00 at auto parts stores. Heavy duty.

would happen to know what type of grease to use to fill in the CV boots? or if it's ok to mix greases?

Again, TIA

axle grease
Well what about Moly Grease? it says you can use that for axles but it's black and not brown. There are various types of greases with different chemical compositions. What if the mixing two types of greases creates some sort of reaction causing them to clump up and cause wear and instead of lubricrate?

so you're saying mixing the two won't create any adverse reactions/effects at operating temperatures?

Or is it all Moly grease?

are you trying to re-invent the wheel - (grease)???

Not at all. All I'm asking is as follows:

1) Are all axle greases the same? (ie. Moly Grease?)

2) If they aren't all the same, is mixing different types of greases going to cause some sort of chemical reaction at operating conditions, thereby creating solid particles that will wear out the CV joints?

Really that's it. That's all I'm asking. If mixing greases really doesn't make a difference, then why didn't anyone state it earlier?

:dunno:

There should be no reaction from mixing different greases.

If th CV boot isn't broken I wouldn't mess with it. It is packed for life, or until the boot breaks or tears.

changing the clutch in these cars doesnt not require you to take the axle boots off... just pop the whole axle outta the tranny...

you dont need greas to do this job.
I needed to change the boots because they had rips in them.

FYI, this thread died after Donald responded with the answer to my question.

It costs a bit more, but I would change the whole axle shaft. Less headache.

If you decide to change the boots, I think some of them come with a packet of grease. Ask the parts guys.
Just clean out the old grease as best as possible to make sure that no road dirt or grit is left behind inside when you reassemble the joints. It doesn't have to be spotless, just not gritty.

Because when replacing parts that involve grease, these parts get CLEANED of the old grease, thus avoiding the need to mix grease. :smokin:

well, depends on how bad the rip is...... or how long it's been ripped.....

i've seen several cv's that have a slight tear where most of the grease is still in it.... and i've seen several cv's where the tear encricles the boot and there's only residual grease left
