Hello all, I was wondering what size are the stock speakers in 00 SR5 extended cab?

Also, is there anything I should know in advance, tips/hints, before changing out the speakers or is pretty straight forward?

They should be 6 1/2" all the way around.

Should be pretty straight forward, take the door panel off carefully though. The door speaker mounts will be funky, if i remember correctly, and you may need spacers and/or use self-tepping screws to mount new speakers. The rears are cake the cover just pops right off no need to take apart the entire rear portion of the truck. Good Luck!

I'm not sure about the 95-00 Tacomas with the 6.5" speakers, but the 2001-2004 Tacomas (6x8's in all 4) require you to take the whole back panels off to access the speakers. The plastic grill is hot welded to the main plastic panel and they don't pop off. To remove the back main plastics, it was easier to remove the back seat pad and back panels because the side plastic panels go under the back panels. I also had to remove the upper seat belt mounts. Hopefully for you, the 2000 and earlier Tacomas had removable grilles.

Yes - the pre-2001 XtraCabs had differently-designed rear side panels whose speaker grilles could be removed without taking off the entire panel.
