....rims are these? I think these Enkei's fit the MR2 perfectly, but not sure how big they are..

Just wondering........What wheel tire combos u guys run, and how is the handling is affected? Do 18's adversely affect how the MR2 can handle mid corner bumps?

hard to tell from this angle but they look like 17s or 18s...best performance wise....stick with 16s....18s will slow u down too much.....if u rolll ur fenders properly...u wont have to worry bout rubbing issues with bigger rims/tires....

Wow ... nothing like memories. That photo is from 1998 :)

The MR2 in the photo was my friend Mike's.
The photo was taken at Maple Grove.
He actually bought that same rim set up I had at the time.

Those are Enkei RS Evolution. A true 3-piece rim @ $400 each.
They are no longer available.
They are 17X9 in the rear and 17X8 in the front and feature the deep dish highly polished lip.
On those rims, we were running 255/35 rear tires and 225/40 fronts.

Both Jekyl and Hyde have the Enkei RSE's.
These are the same design as the Evolutions, but they are one piece, a lot cheaper and do not have the highly polished deep dish lip :( ... they are now discontinued too.

What are the proper range of offsets and wheel and tire sizes to prevent tire rubbing front and rear?

When will wheel spacers be necessary?

I did a search and I didn't get any info. Sorry if this is a noob question. Thanks in advance for your help.

OK. I will definitely take that into consideration. Anyone else with autocross experience want to chime in?????

What is the rest of your suspension setup on the car you autocross in?? Did you make any swaybar, bushing, spring/shocks or coilover changes?

When I get my mr2 I am really only concerned with the way the car performs not the way it looks (I think a stock mr2 with rims is perfect). I want to get used to it for a few months.....then as my skills with the mr2 increase....begin autocrossing.

BTW do you live in the NY/TriState area J & H? I notice on your site that you went to a rally at Bear Mountain? Is this the bear mountain in Westchester NY.....

I live in Reading, PA ~ 2 hours from NYC.
.. and you do have the correct Bear Mountain.

Both of my cars have:
H&R Springs
KYB AGX Struts
17x7 rear Enkei RSEs ~ 235 Falken GRBs
16X7 front Enkei RSES ~ 215 Falken GRBs

Hyde has a full ST Sway bar set and TRD front strut bar.
Jekyl has the rear TRD strut bar.

If you want optimal autocrss handling, I would suggest 15" rims all around.
