My factory battery just went kaplut after 5 years. I had to borrow a car to get to work and when I got home I found the battery had already been replaced for me. What I now find under hood is a small 24F in place of the old 27F that came with my V6 tow package. It does start just fine and we are leaving for the beach first thing tomorrow so it looks like it is just going to have to stay in there. This battery has a RC of 130. I dont remember what the old one was rated at. Its CCA are are slightly higher though. I guess I will just remind myself it was done with good intentions:facepalm:
Both 24F and 27F are acceptable for the V6 according to Toyota's battery application chart. The bigger battery with bigger capacity is nicer of course, but the 24F will work.
I just had the same thing. Stock battery only lasted 3 years and 10 months. I have the tow pkg and had a larger 27 battery. Autozone's 27 had the terminals backwards. Kragen's 27 battery was correct but only a 6 year warranty for $87. AZ's 24 gold level was an 8 year for $90. I elected to get the AZ group 24 8 year.
My V6 SPORT TOW PACKAGE CAME WITH A 24F AS WELL. I DIDN'T WAIT FOR IT TO GO OUT ON ME SO I CHANGED IT AT OUT AFTER 4 YEARS 60K MILES. I GOT AN INTERSTATE AT COST SO WHAT THE HELL RIGHT.....I DON'T LIKE SUPRISES IN THE FORM OF A DEAD BATTERY AT 0300 HRS.
