There may not be many of you, but I thought I'd all warn you about deep water crossings.

Luckily for me nothing was damaged, but I got really close I think. The deepest water I have gone through so far was about two inches above the very bottom of my door. This weekend I had my passenger side mid in the lower half of the door totally cut out on me. I knew it was a loose connection, but what I found was shocking.

I have the tacotune's speaker mounts for 6 1/2" speakers. Well when I unbolted it to get the speaker out, water dripped out from between the inner door panel and the speaker mount. Then when I got the speaker mount out I noticed that the magnet bolts were rusted to hell. I know it's not rain water running down the window because it was muddy water. My question is, how the hell did it get so far up, yet not leak into the cab? There's no evidence whatsoever of water in the space between the inner door panel, and the plastic door panel.

you sure it was muddy water and not discolored water from the rusted bolts?

Definitely muddy water. There was speckles of dried up mud in the bottom of my door.
perhaps muddy water splashed up in there through the drain holes in the door skin. you know, during activities such as your sig picture displays :dunno:

That water wasn't deep at all in my sig pic. Besides the doors would have to be submerged to get water in them. Did you ever look at the drainage holes? They're not very big, plus when the doors shut, it would take a ton of force for water to "splash" in. It was definitely from my deep fording at Paragon last month.
i know it isn't likely from your sig pic. the holes are small and i would think it would be very unlikely to splash in there. but guessing from your pic, water is being sprayed about 10-12 feet high, thats quite a bit of force. i still think that is a possibility, but not necessarily what happened

True, but I've had the panel off after that and no water. My passenger side speaker has cut out a few times on me already.
It's those evil little mud demons. When getting my tires dirty last winter my back window was open about half way, when I got home I found mud on my back seats, now I don't know what you guys think but that's some strage trajectory that mud must have taken considering I was only moving forward. Those little devils like to move to all sorts of strang little places where they like to set up shop and try and kill your truck. Damn thos evil little mud demons, I don't know how they do it but they sure can get into some strange places.

you are so right. that used to happen to me all the times with my frontier.
There are 3 drain holes in the bottom of each door. If the water was deep enough it could have gotten in through these holes. The doors rubber gasket keeps the cab sealed, but those drain holes are on the outside of that gasket, and aren't protected as much.
