After looking, and looking......and looking..............and looking....and looking...both on forums and on the car, I can not locate the thermostat.

You would think with about 10 million camrys running around the US, that there would be a simple write-up about how to change the thermostat; especially when heating issues seem to be a common problem with these cars.

1992 Camry XLE, V6.

So....so...................SO annoying when you can't find a simple answer on forums.

well that was interesting....do you have a haynes manual? it says it in there and u dont need these pesky forums to find it. you can get one at any autoparts store.

never owned a 3vz, but it should be on the back of then engine between the heads. back as in rear of the motor not the engine bay, over the tranny. might be wrong though.

edit: just checked MY haynes manual and its on the FRONT of the engine near the timing belt. just fallow the lower collant hose to its location.
I'm more frustrated than anything, and I suppose it's my own fault for relying on a car forum for an answer...but like I said, being such a common problem - one would assume someone might have ran into this in the past.
you assumend wrong. most of us have a haynes or like manual from which we get this info. your welcome.
 hilarious title

you shouldve been able to trace the coolant hose to find it (probably left side of the engine facing forwards)
from the pic in my manual it is tough to find on the 3vz...its wedged below the timing belt and alternator on teh front of the engine.
Hmm...bad assumption is right.

So it's where the lower coolant hose runs into ?
Need to remove alternator?
Pics?

Anyone every done this? Surely, all of you with 'Haynes manuals' have attempted to change something, or you wouldn't have purchased the manuals...overheating being a common problem....I would go out on a limb and guess someone has changed a thermostat....which brings me back the wrong assumption, apparently, of the procedure and/or knowledge being posted on a Camry-specific forum...
Thank you BigBird, that's what I'm assuming....scan of the manual pics? :) Or anyone have any tips?

I should just take teh shit somewhere...had I had some dough, I would. :(
overheating isnt a big problem around here...

shouldnt happen unless u break something or maintain poorly
well with no write ups dont assume someone is gonna write ya one. go buy a manual or wait till someone does.

definatly get toyota coolant, and drain the cooling system. you should also get a new thermostat gasket too.
The FSM is posted here. Did you check those out? They should have some kind of diagram.

theres a reason there isnt a write up...the manual costs 10 bucks and TONS of info including a detailed info on thermostat change. i would definatly advise buying one:thumbup:

i think they were removed due to copyright laws. if ya know otherwise, post a link, ive been looking.
$1 ? I highly doubt it.

Anyone...ever changed their own thermostat, please chime in...
This isn't my car, it's my fiance. And I'm not wasting (yes wasting) another penny on this piece of shit. I told her before she bought it, to buy a BMW. :)
I'll upload some pictures of my fiance and her sister if someone helps out here...
....figure it out on your own

we dont need anyone like you mucking up the forums talking down on the cars here
