Since it's likely I have a blown head gasket, I'll have the timing chains replaced at the same time. Can anyone please direct to a source for purchasing what I'll need to have this job done?

After reading up, it sounds like I should also do the water pump seals, belts, PCV valve, in addition to having everything flushed.

Please recommend anything else that you think I should consider as well as a good parts source for all of this and the head gaskets too.

Thanks~

the toyota head gasket kit is about $250, it the only thing i would use if i was doing a head gasket. the aftermarket is flooded with cheep crap.

sorry im not knocking on anyone thats used anything else, its my opinion the oem stuff is worth the money for this stuff.

is OK, I agree and disagree.

I did my first head gasket with Eristic brand and it was fine, was able to compare Evergreen, Erisitic and Toyota all in the hand together.

Did the next head gasket with OEM, but had problems, could've been totally another reason.

then did the latest with an Evergreen gasket, the one in the link above, and seemed just fine, but only have 4K miles on it.

generally speaking, the only OEM gaskets that I would think about preferring, would be the head gasket, and the front and rear seals, otherwise all the other gaskets in the kit were top quality.

The head gasket also looked good, so did the seals, some were made with NOK molds, but by a taiwanese company, the NOK was kind of XXX-ed out.

i figured it was worth a try, the OEM gaskets are 3-4X more expensive, so far so good for me.

tiredandwired, here are the new links for your 3RZFE

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-01-2-7L-TOYOTA-4-RUNNER-T100-TACOMA-Timing-Chain-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33625QQihZ018QQitemZ280201310254QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

here is the erisitc, probably the better of the aftermarket:

here is the cheapo I used, was impressed with the quality/price relationship:

consider you pay $85 for the OEm head gasket alone

PS also had the timing chains like I'm linking you too, they're good quality, no worries, made in Japan and 3X less. Some good, some bad, can only speak from experience
