I just purchased a 2001 tacoma 4X4 with 185,000. 2.7 ltr. It runs strong but I have no idea about past maintenance practices. I am the third owner. What is your opinion on beginning oil changes. Should I make the first couple oci's short, say 2,000 miles. Start with cheap oil first for the first couple quick changes then settle on a name brand dino? I want to run this truck till it literally falls apart. It is my work/hunting vehicle.
