so, I just finished installing a new 22R in my buddys 86 pickup and when i first started it, steam was just pouring out the exhaust like there was a blown headgasket.
Well we checked over everything and it all looked good...called the engine place and they said to run it because the catalytic converter retains water (especially since the old engine died from a blown head gasket) and it takes a while to steam out
We ran the engine to break in the cam and it steamed for a good 10 minutes before it finally cleared out...well needless to say I am in a much better mood now and the truck runs great...never would have thought that the cat could hold so much water
