so, I just finished installing a new 22R in my buddys 86 pickup and when i first started it, steam was just pouring out the exhaust like there was a blown headgasket.

Well we checked over everything and it all looked good...called the engine place and they said to run it because the catalytic converter retains water (especially since the old engine died from a blown head gasket) and it takes a while to steam out

We ran the engine to break in the cam and it steamed for a good 10 minutes before it finally cleared out...well needless to say I am in a much better mood now and the truck runs great...never would have thought that the cat could hold so much water

The engine came from a local supplier called Rising Sun Motors. It has a new head and is the more expensive engine...it was 1350 plus a 200 core charge

There were a few cheaper selections...i think as low as about 800 bucks but of course the head was not new and a few other things were not done

He got the engine so I dont know exactly, but I believe they are the ones that come from Japan after being used for 60k or so
