Getting an 05 or newer Tacoma soon but dont know which model to get? Im planning on putting a 3in lift with rims and tires on it in the future so which model would be a good platform to start with. Oh and i do want 4 wheel drive as i live in Newmexico and we have lots of sand to play in!:D

depends on what options you really need or want. you could just get an sr5 model v6 4x4 and go from there. there's a lot of options on my sport that i didn't really need that i could do without. i did the same thing, got rid of the wheels added my own suspension anyway. in retrospect i wish i would have just gotten a base model and added the hood scoop and color keyed bumper and grill, etc. which i did want.
Any model would be great. I pondered that same thought. The deceiding factor for me was the locker. So I got the TRD OFFROAD. I also lifted and junked the shocks wheels and tires. Locker and some skid plates was the only thing left. Was it worth it? Maybe maybe not.
I'd recommend the triple cab with extended long bed and the V-8. You just can't go wrong with that set up and it looks sick when lifted!
go with the locker model...

i have 2 arb lockers in my taco... and it makes all the difference in the world for what the truck can do/preform offroad.

cheers

Really helpful... :ugh3:

In my opinion, take a look at the options that come with the SR5, Off Road Package, and Sport Package and see what suits your needs. Most options are nice to have in my opinion (not necessarily used often). Secondly, get what you can afford comfortably. You don't want to not get something and regret it later.
TRD Off Road. If you plan on wheeling at all you are going to need it.
Like everyone else said, It depends on what options you want and what price you are willing to pay. If money is no object then I'd get the off road 4x4. That way you'd have all the goodies and the you can mod from there.
