I am pretty bad.I am driving a solara. I didn't know that the tinting will screw me up, makes my radar detector not working.
I have tint all window 95 % . so my car looks extremly dark.
I never notice that my oldold radar detector is not working well, until I got a speeding ticket last night ( 95 +) :(

I live in California , bay area. Do u guys know any good radar detector how can work.without taking out the tint

Are you sure you got "tagged" by radar and not by any other kind of speed detection like lazer or by an unmarked car radioing in to a regular cruiser? Here in FL, I have seen the cops sitting in electric company bucket trucks and radioing in speeders to cops on motorcycles hiding down the street. My radar detector never went off, but they were writing tickets left and right. They are also mentioning that they may start using our electronic toll boxes to monitor speeding thorugh the toll booths which will probably lead into them just using it to issuing speeding tickets because they can time you from one booth to the next.

It might if the tint is metalic. I remember reading a couple of years ago in Motor Trend or another magazine that certain metalic window tints affect radar detector reception. It even mentioned that some windshields on some American minivans have a reflective coating to help keep heat out but severely affected radar detector performance.

How does your car look "extremly" dark? The lower the % the darker it is.

i remember seeing on that they instal 4 leds in your dash and you are garanteed to never get a speeding ticket with it. since it makes your car "invisible" to radar and laser for a short period of time to give you a chance to slow down. and if you do get a speeding ticket they'll pay for it. i forgot what it was called thou

Valentine, no question. I think you can also mount the detector in your front bumper or something like that, then the tint wouldn't mess with it. You'd have to buy another display for inside the car though.

valentine one is good but from my friends that own it, they're radar gets knocked off a little when they're around other cars that have radars...not sure how the tint would affect it though

the escort is also a damn good radar...

and there's one more radar that has a distance of about 5miles or something...has sensors in all your bumpers and what not, but it's like a grand

and i've also heard about valentine (maybe a diff company) paying for your ticket, but i can't seriously believe it...how are you or they going to prove that the radar didn't help you or did...someone stated that it gives you a span of time for you to slow down...what if that guy just kept on speeding, the company sure wouldn't pay for his ticket then...

just don't speed, esp at 95mph...you're only saving yourself a few minutes of time and endangering everyone around you
