Anyone experienced a sort of whirring or rubbing noise from the rear of there truck?
I would say it's coming from the mid to rear of the truck, almost sounds like a tire rubbing but it's not, I would say a tire rubbing would describe the noise best. It happens at all different speeds and last from 5-30 seconds and increases and decreases in noise level. It does not happen during acceleration but only while decelerating/cruising/coasting and seems to stop while braking. I would say rear drums but that doesn't seem right, driveshaft? rear end?

This is in my 2007 Access Cab, auto,11000kms, only modification is Bilstein 5100's and 265/75/16's Any thoughts? We've had snow the last few days and the rear wheels have been doing there share of spinning if that gives anyone any thoughts.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick response. It is new as of this morning. I too thought it was snow or ice but this afternoon it started to warm up enough that there really wasn't much sticking to the truck anymore. I'll give it a day or two and see what happens.

So I took the truck in on Friday and apparently, "one of the bearings in the rear diff is toast", told me that they need to replace the whole differential which seems strange to me but at least it's covered. They had no explanation for what would cause this. Anyone else come across this?
