Well after a LOT of consideration, I have decided to keep my car Naturally aspirated since I need something to replace my blown engine. It's amazing however the number of people that automatically tell you to go Turbo and not bother with anything else. I don't know though. I just love instant throttle response and the sound of a NA engine a lot more than I like the characteristics of a Turbo setup. I also think it is more impressive to make power NA and with a light 2nd gen, you don't need much to make the car go. Just wondering how other people feel?

Well, lots of people say turbos are cheating, and real power is from NA.

Don't know if that true. Ferrari can do NA, Porsche used turbo's. Who knows?

Heh... I guess you're talking about me telling you to get that turbo 3s...

Well I've never driven a boosted car before but I think I like NA motors better, linear power delivery especially 4 cylinders.

BUt then there is always the fun factor, i remember my dad had to turbo eclipse, the sound of the turbo will make you smile :D

i don't know man, but i'd go turbo because if you'r gonna spend all that $ for the swap might as well go all out. that's just me though

Im personally a muscle car fan as well as imports. And I love the pure power you can get out of a NA engine. Even V6s.

There is so much that can be done to make a car faster and more powerful. But it seems like all people know of these days is "turbo makes it go fast". There are a million other things you can do that would put out better than a turbo. Storker kit, boring, porting the intake, high compression pistons, forged parts, valve train, cam shaft. I plan on keeping my car NA for a while. I rather see how much I can get out of the engine.

I am not referring to anyone specifically actually. It was just an observation. If I really wanted to go fast I would go turbo. I have just realized I don't care about that much. Having a balanced car that is just generally fun to drive is the most important. Plus I can claim the title of fastest NA 2nd gen.:D Or maybe just fastest NA Camry period.

I agree with you, talisman. It seems that in general most people will tell you to go FI versus NA. It's almost like NA is looked down on in some respects, even though NA tuning for power seems more technically involved than FI tuning.

Perhaps the reason most advocate turbo is because it's easier in a lot of ways. You don't necessarily have to take your motor apart... just slap on some external parts and you're good to go. NA takes a little more thought. Also, I think a lot of people have little experience with driving high power/tuned NA cars. Don't realize the fun factor of driving something with nice power instantly.

Personally, I like both for different reasons.

You should see if you can shoehorn an 8 cylinder from a BMW into your Camry. That'd be sweet. :)

who cares :D
If you will notice, I asked "how other people feel". A feeling would be defined as having an opinion about the topic matter. If you don't care then you don't have an opinon and therefore no feelings concerning the matter. Ergo, I was not speaking to you and your response is unwelcome.:D

I have never driven a turbo car...or a good NA car...or anything.

Hmmmm...

In theory, I think a good NA engine is the best, but turbo torque can be beautiful :D

I'm going to try to figure that one out. Torque? Turbo? Would spooling come into play?

I'm pretty sure the torque of the new Chevy 572 would be pretty good:D *drooling* mmmmm... 720hp. And 685 lbs/torque at 4,500RPM. And all running on pump gas *Faints*

Quicker response with a NA engine. No spooling (although there isn't on a supercharger either. But thats not the point). Raw power:D
