I always like to have fun with my little Corolla, and I thought it wasn't even close to being marginally quick, but my perspective changed a bit last night. Me and my friend were at our fun-place so to speak (a huge truck dock, virtually deserted after 7 pm). He has a late 2000's Volkswagen Passat with a V6, and we had a little race. Suffice to say I was blown away by the results. I pounced him off the line and by the end (about 50-60 MPH) I was ahead by about 4 car lengths. I guess this is an advertisement for the pure awesomeness of the manual transmission Corolla.

or he has something wrong with his car, that V6 is cranking out atleast 200hp, 180 at the wheels probably if not a little more. the weight difference is not so huge that he'd get spanked like that. either he let up before you did or he cant drive.
Must you kill all my smugness? Lol yea, he probably did either let up or not launch correctly (I asked him after and he said all he did was stomp the gas.) On another note, a few weeks before this, I versed a 300M with a fairly heavy guy in my passenger seat and beat him to about 30, then he pulled away after that. I guess our Corollas are great off the line but start losing steam at about 40-50.

It was a COMPLETELY empty truck docking area. The only people we could've hurt was ourselves. We were putting no one else in danger. I'm not an idiot to start going around racing people on the street. Yes, I know it wasn't a track, (there's not many cheap ones around here) but, as a red blooded teen, there's a monkey on my back that needs scratching and at least I didn't do it on the street.

You're reckless and irresponsible for even participating in such activity that TN clearly does not condone.

It did not take place on a track.

Read the rules! :rtfm:
