When I put the key in the ignition after my car has been off for 60 minutes, I can hear a whooshing noise. The sound seems to come from the gas tank. It sounds like it's a pump priming or something. This happens as soon as I insert the key into the ignition, but before I turn the key.
I noticed if the car has been off for only 30 minutes, the whooshing sound doesn't happen until I turn the key.
Does anyone know what is making this sound?

It’s the fuel pump. It pressurises the system before ignition. Especially for the cold start when the high pressure direct injection is used.
