I would appreciate if anyone can tell me why does the first fan setting in my girlfriends 1992 corolla DX does not work ? the other two or three work fine, but its just the first setting that doesn't work. Anyone know why???

Chances are its the switch, I forget the name of it, but when it fails, the switch will work on higher settings but not lower ones.

I had the same problem on my old Civic, someone told me there was some relays on the blower fan itself that you could replace, this could also apply to the Corollas. give it a try and check the fan under the passanger side.

It's not the switch. I had the same problem and it was the resistor. It can be picked up from your local Toyota parts dealer.

Same thing happened in my 89 pickup, it was same as Ninja7, resistor, easily fixed too.....

I don't know what model and year you have but mine is a 1988 Corolla GT-S and it's not soldered on but plugged into the blower under the dash. If you have the factory repair manual then it shows a picture.
