Window Visor Problem

Hey all,

Has anyone got the Toyota smoked window visors installed at the dealer? I got mine at the dealer (genuine Toyota product) for my 2007 Camry SE-V6 and the window makes a gritty noise - as if there is sand in the window sill, when they are opened or closed. They actually scratched the windows right at the top - so it's not visible when they are closed. The dealer was dumbfounded and said there is nothing they can do. I then got them to agree this was not normal - and they tried replacing them with new visors - but same problem.

It's annoying as hell, but I like the look. To compensate me for the hassle and scratches to the window, they agreed to tint my windows no charge. It hid the scratches but never solved the gritty noise.

I'm just wondering if this is a normal experience since I've had two sets of visors on the car - and I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Cheers.

Are these the in-channel or on the outside?
These are in channel visors - I think that is required on the 07 so the visors don't cover the chrome. They look look just like the ones on the link posted by Epsilon (thanks).

The dealer replaced the original set with another set and still the same problem. I really like the look but the noise at initial opening or once the window closes is annoying. I would worry that purchasing another set would cause the same problem.

I appreciate both your comments - thanks.
I have the in-channels, I havent installed them yet due to the weather but I will let you know.
I used to have the outside ones on my other car, just hated the look. Its alot cleaner with the in channel but might have a noise issue, perhaps they were installed wrong.
There is a extensive process to have them fit right so they dont rub the window which is happening in your case.

Got a link for them there in-channels?? I don't believe I've ever seen them.
Thanks DrewsCam. I agree that the outside ones look lame. Good luck in your install - let me know how it turns out for you. Both my sets were installed at the dealer since they are the Toyota visors - so I would have thought they'd know how to do it properly! They told me the windows should remain closed for 48 hours after installation to allow the visors to 'set' properly, which I did - but no luck.

Yea besides that, they need to open and shut the windows a few time to force the glue, to like compact it in there and keep it in there. This might not help but when its gets nice I will be putting mine on, and I will post how it goes.

Search Camry In Channel then find 07 08
I got mine from Toyota Canada - here is a link to their site showing various Camry accessories available:

I'm sure it's a better idea to have them installed in the summer months when the temperature is warmer for setting purposes.

If you want to see how they look on, feel free to see my gallery of pics.

Cheers.
