Windsheild Pits

My truck has only 32 k miles and my windsheild is so pitted that it is hard to see out of. Does anyone else have this problem? I was wondering is it would be covered under warranty?

Goodluck, I'm not sure if it is. I've heard two things regarding windshields... one Toyota nation, everyone seems to think that the factory windshields are very weak. The glass specialist I went to, who is very experienced and seen everything and then some (according to him) in the business, says that the new generation tacomas have a strange angle in their cab/windshield that makes them very prone to windshield pits and cracks. Not sure which is true, but my windshield guy was adamant about the angle atleast being a part of the problem and he really does know his windshields.

Not for pitting. But if you get a large crack that can't be filled, then they are covered...of course your deductible applies. OOPS... You said warranty, and I was thinking insurance. What I said applies to your insurance policy.

I'd have to agree. That's one of the first things I noticed in the rain. These trucks are very noisy in the rain because the rain drops are practically smacking head-on into the glass! Most windshields aren't angled so steeply.

I would like to know if there's a product out there for the DIYer or even an auto glass company that could be used to fill in the small pits that cover the glass.
I had one stone hit the winshield 4 weeks after I got my truck and the glass had a chip, that eventually crack from side to side. The stone that hit the window was not big at all, thats what blows my mind.
I don't know about New Mexico, but here in Colorado pitted windshields are just the norm. All the sand on the roads in the winter that gets kicked up, and then all the dust and grit in the air in the summer.

Best thing I ever did was let my insurance agent talk me into paying a little bit extra for $0/deductible glass coverage. Windows on the cars get pitted, I call and they send someone out to replace the windshield. I'll probably get the truck done at the end of winter.
Not covered under warrenty. Low deductible for the win!
What are window pits or what is window pitting?
Window pits are where small pieces of glass have been displaced from the windshield due to something striking it (sand is the usual culprit). You can see them best when the sun is hitting the windshield at an angle. Happens to every car over time.

Yeah, but I've had some doozies hit the glass and not crack it...go figure. I do have 2 good-sized impacts of which one cracked but it has never spread...and you can see from my avatar that I park outside in the snow. Luck of the draw I guess.:D

Knock on wood...but no pits yet....of course now that I have said that I'll probably get a nice big crack after driving up to Vail this weekend.
i took off my hoodscoop to paint it and i thought if i didnt bolt it back it wouldnt fly. go figure it smacked my windshield in the face going 65mph on the freeway. thank goodness no damange, just being an idiot on my part:ugh3:
