Hi,

I just changed the windshield wiper blades on my friend's 2007 Camry LE. Then I noticed the windshield wiper arm on the passenger side was resting a bit too low and I had to pry it up a little bit to get the arm to come out fully. I was able to change the blades with no trouble. But when I started the engine and turned on the wipers on, the passenger side arm was hitting the top of the engine hood when it went down to its lowest position. Otherwise the arms were working great and moving in full swing.

I noticed there's a nut holding the arm in place at its base, and maybe I can loosen this nut to calibrate the arm position? I'm guessing this is an easy job to do with a wrench? Has anyone had the same problem? I'd appreciate any input

Yes, there is a nut on that can be loosen. I'm not sure if the wiper arm is 'key' where it can only go in a certain position. I know the wiper arms motor can be adjusted to a higher position for snow areas for the ES.

Yup. Like Kingdom934 said, I found that out too. When trying to change wipers on avalon, I had to just push them up and they were into snow mode. As for adjusting the nut, that is possible too. Loosen the nut and first use a screwdriver to make it loose. Move a few degrees and push back in, tighten nut.

Edit: I reread my post. lol. "it" I mean wiper arm; pry upwards from underneath with flat screwdriver... do not start twisting. There are small grooves on the arm hole which grip on to the wiper bolt.

Thank you for your input! I'll go ahead and see if LE has those two different positions - maybe all Toyota models have them. I also found a few YouTube videos showing how to remove the arms. A guy in one of the videos said you have to pop the arm with the wrench from above to loosen the arm, but I guess I just have to be careful not to damage the groove on the cylinder.
