Our 2019 Highlander is developing and ever growing crack from the bottom to the top. There is no sign of an impact. The web is full of complaints about this. Toyota needs to address this. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA and with ClassAction.org. Now that electronics are imbeded/mounted on windows the cost of replacement is no longer a minor issue. Toyota needs to provide glass that is sufficient for the purpose. Please

No sign of impact? What’s that lit up just left of the door frame in your picture?

Heard back from Toyota. They want the dealer to check it out and report. I guess I have "work" the dealer to generate the "correct" report.
This happened to my ‘15 the first winter. I had snow packed in the cowl and had the windshield heater and front defroster blasting. While I blamed thermal stress I have seen multiple posts here over the years regarding random windshield cracking. My crack started in the same location as yours.
I’m in NY where full glass coverage with no deductible is mandatory so mine was fixed at no (additional) cost. I’m sure if I had to pay out of pocket I’d be pretty upset.

My glass has been sufficient. Just so you know, you will not get anywhere with NHTSA or with ClassAction.org. Your best bet is to get it fixed one more time and go trade it in on a Dodge.
Not by myself. Numbers count. The more complaints that are filed with the NHTSA the more likely they are to take interest in those complaints. Same with class action- numbers count. If the attorneys smell blood in the water they will develop an interest. Complaining on the web is fun, but doesn't go far in getting the attention of those with the power and authority to do something on behalf of the consumer. So, go ahead. File the complaint. It's easy. It's free.( If Dodge's came with a Toyota drive train, I'd be all over that. They have awesome styling).

I had the EXACT same crack a few years ago. No sign of impact. It was spring time as temps were warming up from winter. Started small in the center at the bottom. Eventually spread up to the top. I tried insurance, but deductible was higher than replacement. I bought car pre-owned, so my dealer wasn't too keen on addressing it. I eventually just bit the bullet and had it replaced.

Any hard driving, bumpy off road? It could also be a defect in the design of the vehicles frame, allowing the body to twist too much causing the windshield to crack. I drive commercial trucks, we get this kind of cracks quite often, but it is usually from the very rough bumpy dirt farm roads we often have to travel, a good hard hole can crack the windshield.

2017 RAV4. Mine started at bottom center as well. Spread from there. NY does require full glass coverage but unless your car is very new it usually applies to aftermarket glass. I ended up paying $330 extra for OEM glass replacement.

I use the defroster to deal with interior fogging only.

This time of year in my climate snow/ice is not yet an issue, I have always resisted the urge to use my defroster to clear snow/ice off the windshield to avoid setting up a substantial hot/cold differential. I have been given to understand that scraping the exterior as best I can while running the heater ducted to the floor or front driver/pax vents to slowly heat the interior of the vehicle avoids stressing the bottom of the windshield. The only glass I've had to replace are windshields busted by accidents or limbs and the like.
