What about Toyo Open Country G-02 Plus?

I don't know much about the Pirellis, but you can't go wrong with the Blizzaks. Just to complicate matters though, I am going to suggest a third option.

After some research of my own, I found that the Toyo Open Country G-02 Plus also have excellent ratings for snow and ice traction, but have better treadwear rating than the Blizzaks. Also called a few local tire shops that carry all the major brands and the guys I spoke with at each shop recommended the Toyos over the Blizzaks hands down. They said Toyos just as good, but last longer. In fact, 2 of 3 guys had G-02s on their own vehicles. The other had Michelin x-ice, but also insisted that the Toyo's are a great tire.

You can start with 1010tires.com for online reviews, but also suggest you call some local shops that carry all 3 brands and get their opinion. (make sure you ask if they have all in stock 1st, otherwise it could bias their answer).

I have a set of Toyos sitting on some alloy wheels in my garage desperately awaiting my 09 HL to arrive!

I installed the Blizzaks for this winter. They have been fantastic in the snow & ice & we get plenty of it in Utah. We've made weekly trips to Park City & have been in some nasty road conditions and the tires performed flawlessly.

Hi guys i'm thinking about purchasing winter tires either the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-Z3 or the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow. Can I get some opinions on these tires. Thanks.
I would bet that I have plenty of company when I say that I montior the tire threads since I am a Sport owner. The 19's on the Sports and Limited don't have many options, which is why I and probably others watch these threads. So please forgive me for asking, but what trim line are you referring to?

I was planning to install 235/65 17 winter tires on my H/L Limited. The reason for downsizing is because I recently purchased a new set of aftermarket rims which is 17". If I purchased 19's the price would be much higher. Afterall, I just need them for the winter time which is only 3 mos. in a year. Then I would switch back to the 19's. The allow rims cost me $90 each which was a great deal. It was much better than getting the steel rims. They say the narrower the tire the better in the snow.
