I thought this would be interesting. If you could go back to the day you bought/leased your Taco, would you still buy the same one you did? Or would you look at a different Toyota (such as the FJC or Tundra), a different trim level, different all together vehicle?

Personally, I am not sure if I would buy it again. Not because I don't love it or it has problems, because it doesn't. I love my Tacoma. I wish I had spent more time looking for a Double cab or a 4x4. Or maybe gave a more serious look to the FJ.

if its gonna be based off the abat design, HELL NO. if they keep the drivetrain relatively the same, or better, then absolutely. the abat just scared me with that crappy IRS. but this will be in atleast 8-10 years, or wenever my taco decides to quit
edit: i thought about the FJ for a long while too, but its soo much more convenient to be able to throw shit in the bed, and i definatley dont regret buying the double cab.

Every vehicle is a compromise. I'm sure when I have to accelerate up an on-ramp in busy traffic I'll wish I had gotten the V6. When on a long trip in the summer I'll wish I had 2wd for better mileage. When family comes to visit I'll wish I had gotten a double cab...

...and when a bird shits on my black truck I'll wish I had gotten silver!

Overall we just make the best choice we can...

Would have gotten the off-road over the sport and not wasted money on the tube steps and skid plate.
I was just thinking about that? I have the OR because I wanted the rear locker.
I spent so much money making my truck look like the sport model. I would have saved if I just got the sport pakg. and added the "locker".

Why do you prefer the OR over the Sport?

Let's see...

I wish I would of gotten it in Speedway Blue.
I wish I would of opted for the base stereo.
I wish I would of gotten the steel wheels instead of the alloys.

I'm still making monthly payments. Some of that montly payment contributes to the additional cost of the 6-disc CD player, and the alloy wheels that I don't even own any more! All the more money I could of spent on mods.

I also wish I wouldn't of gotten the aluminum skid plate and tube steps. The skid plate and factory skids are being replaced with ones from All-Pro. I still have the westin tube steps but don't have them installed. They were taken off for wheeling and will be replaced by a set of custom sliders I'm having built by my wheeling buddies.

Other than the above, I would definitely buy one of these trucks again. I love my truck!

Love the tacos, I started with a 06 black TRD sport AC 4x4 and loved it, but I really should have bought the double cab, so I did in the indigo ink color, now to start the mods...I did drive a chevy s-10 reg cab for 6 years before my 06 taco, descent truck for 2 or 3 years, after that one problem after another, nothing compared to the yotas.

I almost got a 4runner because my brother has one and I really like it, but like the first guy said, I like to throw shit in the back, snowboards, mountain bike, parts, ect.

When I have 3 or more hikers in my 4wd AC, I wish I'd gone for the DC. When the wife uses it to haul rescued dogs, I think the FJC might have been a better choice.

Overall, though, it does what I bought it to do. Carry me, the dog and the wife or a friend to a hiking trail, the backcountry or a fishing spot. I knew I wanted the OR over the Sport and time has borne that out. I wanted a truck that can take a pretty good beating and come back smiling. It also hauls muddy boots, snowshoes and other wet gear without the hassles of cleanup (just let the occasional rain wash it out). Being lazy, I like that.

If the a-Bat does come out and it gets better mileage than my v6 with similar performance, I'll have to consider it. I've already got a few places here in NM I'd like to go explore, but am limited by mileage/range.

I have a little buyer's remorse, but not much.

I could have gotten an 08 Frontier with 5a instead of 4a, cruise instead of none, rear wheel disks instead of drums, steel bed instead of plastic... all for about the same price. Oh well, easy come easy go.

The first Tacoma I test drove was a DC LB sport. I really liked the ride of the sport, but as I was driving it, I kept looking in the rear view mirror and thinking, damn that tailgate looks far away. I had settled on buying that truck and when I went back to the dealer two days later, they had cleaned it up, I noticed two chips in the hood, one the size of a dime. The more I looked at the front of it, it was an indigo ink, I could see more chips and I thought, for a truck with only 25 miles, that paint isn't going to last very long.
They had a silver ACC OR, a manual, but it was sold and the more I looked at it, I was thinking that the ACC looked the way the truck was supposed to look.
In hindsight, I wish I had gotten a DC, I really need the interior room now, and another color, preferrably speedway blue. I seldom see SB, but Silver, the color I got, is as common as trees around here.

I always loved the look of the tacomas but I never thought I was a pickup guy. My father had a 95 tacoma 4x4 single cab 5 speed in DR. I used it for 3 weeks while I was on vacation down there and I fell in love with how it drove/felt. A couple of months later I saw a 2005 SWB DBL CAB Sport for the first time and got that whoah what the hell is that effect. I was hooked I could not find one anywhere in the swb color and in 06 I bought a Camry (Wish I wouldnt have but it is a beautiful car SE) The next year I drive by a dealer and see the truck of my dreams go in to see if I could trade in the camry but I would of lost like 10 grand. So 3 months go by and its still there I ended up trading in the wifes Rav-4 and leasing the Tacoma. So I regret buying the camry becauce now I had to lease instead of financing it and dont have much money for mods but once I buy her out and finish paying off the financed camry I shouldnt have to worry about cars for the next 10-15 years hopefully.
