I've been dragging out the final decision to order a new Highlander for way too long, but the stupid amount of time I've been taking on this decision has given me plenty of opportunity to consider the various purchase/lease options, and its really got me wondering about automotive subscription services.
A few years ago, it seemed like every manufacturer was rolling out some kind of subscription services for their cars - I remember Cadillac, Porsche, and Volvo most prominently, but I'm sure every manufacturer's finance arm was working on something.
I don't know if anyone is still offering this option, but the more I think about it, the more I'd be interested in trying it out. In my mind, it's basically Leasing on steroids -- you pay more but get way more features (swapping cars more frequently, always driving something new).
I like the idea of not being locked into a specific model of car, but instead being able to swap out based on what we need. Like, I'd love to have a Camry or Crown as a daily driver, but pick up a Sienna for a month in the summer to take the family on a road trip, or get a Tundra for a couple months while I do a remodelling project.
Does anyone know if this is still an option, and which brands offer it?
