Hello all. I'm looking at perhaps buying a 2004 or newer tundra 4 door 4x4.
Question is what generation or year should I be looking for? I don't want to buy new because
it's not in the cards. This will be my DD and weekend warrior (hunting, fishing etc).
I plan on just keeping her stock and no mods.
What year would you recommend and why?
What are some common known issues to certain generations?
Thanks

00-04 have non vvti engine (240hp)
05-06 have vvti (285 hp) and better mpg

05-06 have slightly better internals and more interior/ exterior features standard.

go with 05-06

I have a 2003 SR5, 4.7 with 234,000 miles and never been in the shop for other than normal maintenance. I would go with any of the first gen trucks as long as the mileage and maintenance records are correct. I have custom duals and a cold air induction kit and it's the strongest truck I have ever had since 1971.
