Tundra Prove It! Lets Consumers Test the All-New 2007 Toyota Tundra in 350 Markets
Tour lets drivers discover truck in person, while "proving" its top-of-the-line capabilities

02/01/2007 Torrance, Calif.

February 1, 2007 - Torrance, Calif. – Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. announced today it will launch "Tundra Prove It!", a national tour designed to provide consumers with a firsthand opportunity to experience the all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra while showcasing its powerful, rugged capabilities.

The tour officially begins in Orlando, Fla. at the Bass Pro Shops and International Home Builders’ Show on February 7, and will travel throughout the country visiting approximately 350 markets over the next 10 months. This tour will give attendees the opportunity to put Toyota's all-new Tundra through a number of real-world, interactive challenges, letting the truck prove that its capabilities, such as acceleration, payload capacity, towing capacity and braking, are all top-of-the-line. Driving courses that feature several real-life situations for the drivers to test out the Tundra will include:
• A fully loaded vehicle to show payload capacity
• A vehicle towing 10,000 lbs. to demonstrate towing performance
• A demonstration of the Tundra’s automatic limited slip differential
• An "acceleration run" to demonstrate the speed of the 5.7-liter and six-speed transmission
• A "braking zone" to demonstrate one of the best braking systems in its class, with and without load

Along with the driving experience, at select events, consumers will be able to see the Tundra Power Challenge, in which a Tundra and competitor vehicle will compete side-by-side in acceleration runs and towing challenges. Also, to create a tailgate atmosphere at major events, Toyota has formed a partnership with Char-Broil and Johnsonville to build a 10,000 pound, 18-foot long, 15-foot high, giant grill that will be towed by the all-new Tundra.

"Tundra Prove It! is something unique for Toyota," said Brian Smith, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., corporate manager, truck operations. "This program doesn’t just put consumers behind the wheel, it lets them test the truck in the way they will really use it – towing, payload capacity, braking – you name it, you can test the Tundra’s abilities on this tour."

Toyota has partnered with some of the best known brands in the industry to roll out the new Tundra. Bass Pro Shops, 84 Lumber and Tractor Supply Company have all joined forces with Toyota on Tundra Prove It! to reach the true audience for the all-new Tundra, "True Truckers." The 350 stop tour will visit a variety of locations and events across the country, including Daytona Speed Week, AMA Supercross events, 84 Lumber stores, Bass Pro Shops locations, and the Star of Texas Rodeo in Austin, Texas to name just a few.

These events are a great way to let people test drive a vehicle without the pressure of a car salesman. They are definitely going after the right crowed, no doubt they did their homework.

The thing that bothers me is that only at "select events" are they going to have the competition (Ford, Dodge, GM). I know it's a Toyota event, but to be credible it would be nice to allow potential customers to "test" the competition. Also, I wonder if they are only going to have the 5.7 liter available to test/compare.

On a side note:

That third picture looks like it could be the next generation Dodge Ram. . . .

The first picture looks great, mostly due to it hiding that goofy slit above the grill.

I like the wheels and paint color, but other than that, I don’t find the look all that exciting. Maybe in person it is different (I didn’t like the new Silverado or Sierra at first either, but in person I really like them). The look of the interior, however, is terrible. . . .

 Your comments about the Tundra were not surprising considering that Toyota is not of your "taste".

I think it is a way better looking truck than the domestics... Good job to Toyota...
As a matter of fact, this is the most beautiful looking large sized pick up I have seen since the early days of milky way...

First, I didn't say Toyota's were "not of my taste". I have said that Toyota gives me no reason to shop any of their cars right now, mostly due to the fact that I'm looking for a toy, and not a primary source of transportation (in which case I would gladly look at a Toyota). Big difference.

And this is not surprising coming from someone that is incapable of complementing any other car maker (especially domestics), no matter how great that product may be.:disappoin

Toyota makes great cars/trucks, but so do other car companies. To say any different is ignorant.

i dont need a truck but dang i want one of these! i think they made the back higher so the other makes can kiss its ***
It is raised in the back (like most other full sized trucks) due to the stiff(er) leaf springs. This is done 1) to allow the truck the capacity (suspension wise) to handle 10,000+ lbs towing. 2) so that once the 10,000 trailer is attached, the truck sits level, and does not have the headlights pointing to the sky. Pure function none the less.

Has anyone heard who makes the rearends and transfercase for these Trucks?

Yes... Right.. There is big difference..

May be a Chrysler Prowler will fulfill your needs since it is the most useless vehicle on the road.

I am sure you just can't conceive of the idea that someone can NOT like domestics since person of your self designated high intellect has decent reasons to praise them. Hence, all else seems ignorant to you. I can say the same thing about you. Just FYI, I have two engineering degrees if you think being an engineer has given you a better sense of telling people what to like and what not to like and what is ignorant and what is not.

U could be an ignorant person who thinks Toyotas are boring. It is a matter of perspective but in this day and age, everybody thinks he/she is right and should be listened to. I think it is the 1970s and 1980s schooling. It is good for a successful life though, especially the corporate world.

That is good for you to think so. Make a clone of yourself if you want the whole world to think like you... SIR....... ;) Is human cloning legal yet?

Thew NEW TUNDRA ROCKS !!!! U can stay pissed if you like. NOT MY PROBLEM !!! LOL !!!

U r not alone here. There are many who have taken the liberty to join this board only to TELL "us" how good GM/Fords are WHILE we discuss Toyotas ... etc..etc..... Whatever. All are used to it so nobody's feelings are ever hurt... LOL:lol: Express urself better...

that tundras fender gap between front and rear seems more extreme than the other f/s trucks, on a sport pkg oddly enough. too bad they can't make it look leveled even when its not towing and still look evenly even when its towing.

I just saw a new Tundra towing the Prove It trailer on the I-15 North. I was in a full sized car, and the thing is huge on the road. In the rear view mirror, you can definitely tell what it is.

just saw in Truck Trend, Tundra's 5.7's does 0-60 in 6 sec flat. drop in a S/C and you have a Ram SRT10 killer sleeper :smokin:
That is fast! for a Truck weighted ~5,600lbs.

More detail, please. Like quater mile time, 70-0 brake performance, mpg, etc...

Prowler has a V6 and , while it looks good, is still slow. . . .No thanks. . . .

Huh? I'm not so arrogant as to tell anyone what to buy, or like for that matter. All I'm trying to point out is how childish it is to equate Toyota to Oxygen, and inject a little reality in an otherwise fairytale like view of cars. One car company does not make the best of every car. . . .and to exclude a car from your shopping list based on a badge alone is, well. . . . .stupid. . . . . Buy what best suits you and what you like. . . . If you think that makes me arrogant, so be it. . . .:disappoin

Who's pissed, it is a nice truck. . . .a little ugly (IMHO), but nice none-the-less.

BTW, the Tundra commercials last night were great. I have talked to very few people here in "truck country" who find it to be attractive, but it sure is capable. It's going to be an all out war for truck buyers. . . . .

the silverado made it in 7.7sec with the 5.3L, so assuming if it had the 6.0L, it would have still be slower than the tundra, in the mid 6s, which isnt a slouch but still cant match the "smaller" 5.7
