I'm considering upgrading my ride from a 2001 chevy prizm to a 2008 Scion Xd. I just test drove the Scion, it's priced $50 below blue book at a used car dealer with 95,000 miles. Both cars feature toyota's 1.8 engine, the old ride has 217,000 miles. The CarFax I was given shows an open recall, nhtsa 09v338 for a brake vaccuum port.

Test driving the car, I could not detect it's traction control feature. The car had a manual transmission and spun the tires freely. If it indeed has traction control it performs different than my Mazda 5.

Is this open recall enough of an issue to account for the reduction in price? CarFax shows it as a one owner with no accidents and I'm strongly considering purchasing the vehicle perhaps within the week. The used car lot is directly across the street from a toyota dealer.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Don't have any advice for you myself, but I'll move your thread over to the Scion forum so the members there can offer you opinions and advice.
