Hey Everyone,

Sad news :crying: but my long and beloved XRS is totaled after someone rear ended me and pushed me into another car. My question is that the front end was pushed pretty hard into the car in front and the bumper support beam is completely bent and was wondering why the airbag didn't go off?

Then thinking about it more, I was glad it didn't go off since it still has the original Tanaka airbags since the letter I got said if it wasn't urgent to come at a later date to have them replaced.

So could someone upload a picture of where the airbag sensor is on the 2005 XRS?

:crying:

Yep - I just looked at mine the other day. if you look under your hood to the right side behind the radiator and under the air intake box, follow any YELLOW wires. You will see the sensor. Anything YELLOW is for the SRS system

Sorry this has happened to you. By the way, is the car stock? Are you planning to rebuild it? I am interested in bits and pieces. PM me on what your plans are and any photos you can provide.

thats not enough front end damage to cause the airbags to go off. The sensor sits just behind the radiator I believe, the damage is no where near that.
The sensors are outboard. Meaning, the locations are on the outside of the bumper support, not the beam. this is welded to the subframe structure and the beam is bolted to it. Think of it as it will activate once the beam collapses into the intake manifold.
