Some major things that will tell you it's a real XRS is if it has the 2.4L 2AZ engine in it and the rear disc brakes. There are many other features that can denote a XRS such as the Yamaha tuned strut bar, XRS specific shocks and springs, etc. but the motor and the rear discs would be the most expensive to replicate a XRS. If further verification is needed, check the model code located on the door jamb sticker. The 11th letter of the chassis/model code should be S for XRS models.

On another note, I did not know there were official physical copies of the repair manual available for the 10th gen Corolla. I've got the entire library downloaded for the 10th gen from TIS (took way too much time) but having the physical copies would be cool to have as well!
