I have a 2003 Yaris 1.3 which has done 119,000 miles on the same clutch (AFAIK). I've had it for 9 years. The clutch pedal biting point is high but as far as I can remember it always has been. I am told that it is slipping but am not convinced, but that may be because we're so used to it. The clutch can "judder" occasionally if you don't pull away cleanly, and 1st and 2nd gears can be stiff to engage in cold weather.

I have done the test where, with the handbrake on and car stationary, you raise the clutch in 5th then in 4th etc if necessary, and the engine stalls as expected.

I can probably be persuaded that the clutch does need replacing, but could there be anything else going on? I am worried that it will not be a simple clutch replacement and will end up costing me a fortune.

Thanks.
